Robinho To Join Berbatov, Brown And Keane In India

Former Brazil international Robinho could be on his way to India to feature in the Indian Super League (ISL) in the January window. He parted ways with his former club Atletico Mineiro on January 1 as he could not reach an agreement with them.

The 33-year old used to feature for the club in his native Brazil but he was offered a 50-percent pay cut in a proposed new deal. He did not agree so they parted ways. He has been linked with a move to the Major League Soccer and the United Soccer League in the United States of America (USA). He has also been linked with a move to Scottish Premiership side Glasgow Rangers.

However, there are strong indications that the former Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan forward would join former Man United striker Dimitar Berbatov, Man United defender Wes Brown and Ireland soccer legend Robbie Keane in the ISL.

Robinho would be a good sell with his experience and exposure to different leagues. He won league titles with Santos in Brazil, with Real Madrid in the La Liga, the Serie A with AC Milan and a seven-month spell at Guangzhou Evergrande, where he lifted the Chinese Super League.

There are other concerns though as he was convicted of rape recently. An Italian court found him guilty of participating in a gang rape of a woman in Milan. The appeal process has not run out but Brazil does not have an extradition process in place. For Robinho if his appeal period runs out he would be at risk of being arrested if he left Brazil.

If the move to the ISL happens, he would join other European stars like Alessandro Del Piero, Robert Pires, Florent Malouda et al who played in India.
